Connie has been personally involved with the Lord’s Gym since it’s inception.  For a time she served as Administrator in the original Lord’s Gym, Roseville, CA.  She also used to run their Pee Wee Sports Camps (which are no longer held) and administrated the basketball leagues.

 

Love in Action Inc. is working to raise funds so that we can partner with LG to reach young people, primarily through Lord’s Gym South Sac (LGSS).  We chose LGSS because it is situated smack in the middle of 2 high schools and 2 junior highs that are some of the most troubled schools in the Sacramento area!  It is ALSO on the SAME BLOCK as the worst hotel in the Sacramento area for the human trafficking (sex slavery)!

 

Night of Champions.

LGSS has their “Night of Champions” every Wednesday night where they minister to roughly 250 children and young people through basketball for the older kids, crafts for the middle aged kids, and activities for the little ones.  These activities are followed by ministry time where they are all taught age-appropriate Bible lessons and character lessons to help them develop into Godly young men and women who are real contributors to our society!

 

Other help areas

There is a computer lab, donated by the Sacramento Kings, for the students to use after school.  They are in the process of putting in a full gym with all the free weights and other cardio and other equipment.

 

They also do “field trips” with the kids, sending several busloads to an Oakland A’s game each year, complete with buying them food there and on the way back.  The field trips include Moms and Dads.

 

They also give away backpacks (partnering with Kohl’s Department Store) each school year, loaded with school supplies.

There is a weekly food giveaway where people can come and receive bags of groceries for free.

 

LIA and the Lord's Gym

Connie has personally been involved with almost all of the above activities.  Now she wants LIA to get serious and raise funds so that they can make financial donations to LG Roseville and LGSS.

All 3 directors of LIA believe very strongly in LG!  They know firsthand how, at LG, Jesus is continually lifted up, the Bible is taught, and people are ministered to, with MANY being won to Christ!  The gyms are filled with signed sports memorabilia from Christian athletes, and there are all sorts of trophies for championships won in basketball, boxing, and other events.
