Compared to it's Goliath neighbor of India, Pakistan is a definite David when it comes to size - just 307,000 square miles - slightly less than twice the size of the US state of California. However, it is number 6 in the world in population at 187 million. It has a similar life expectancy to India of 66 years, but has better sanitation and clean water. It also has a high risk factor of major infectious diseases, some being bacterial diarrhea, hepatitis A and E, typhoid fever, dengue fever and malaria.
Punjabi is the most widely spoken language at 48%, but, again, English is common in business and Government. The main religions in Pakistan are Muslim 95% (Sunni 75%, Shia 20%), other (includes Christian and Hindu) 5%.
